How we Have Adapted to Covid-19

Covid-19(the coronavirus) has tested our pliability and we have to prove our ingenuity and our ability to showcase the compassion that defines us.

The quick and dynamic situations with regards to the pandemic has affected humankind in all aspects of life.

The impact is overwhelming and our thoughts reach out to all those affected, wether in terms of economy, physically or emotionally.

In troubling times such as this, we are ready to welcome you on a memorable Tanzanian Safari where your health and wellbeing are our priority.

HOW DO WE ACHIEVE THIS AND MOVE FORWARD TO PROVIDE AMAZING TRAVEL EXPERIENCES?

I. ALL OUR GUIDES AND STAFF TOGETHER WITH THEIR IMMEDIATE FAMILY ARE FULLY VACCINATED.

II. STAFF EDUCATION AND PRECAUTIONS

On the basis of the World Health Organization (WHO), Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children (MoHCDEC) and the MNRT COVID-19 Stand Operating Procedures (SOP’s), we have customized specific COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures(SOP)s that will guide and help you during and throughout  your Safari

  • A team of professional guides fully trained on the latest health protocols, as set out by the Ministry of Health.
  • Wearing face masks at all times, Regular handwashing and sanitizing, social distancing , isolation incase of close contact with a COVID-19 patient/ symptoms as well as no handshaking or hugging.
  • Ongoing basic medical training to all our Guides and Staff.
 

III. STAFF MONITORING

  • Temperature checks at the beginning of a new day on a Safari.
  • Incidents of high temperatures immediately reported to Company liasing officers.

 

IV. All our activities such as game drives, walks, excursions etc., will always be private, and you get to keep your designated vehicle, guide and spotter with you throughout your stay. Our vehicles get you that fresh, clean air and space that everyone needs these days.

V. COMPANY SOPS

The procedures provide a framework for operations during the unprecedented times of  COVID-19 pandemic. These guidelines will be updated as the COVID-19 situation progresses in conformity with the measures provided by the MoHCDEC.

The protocols will help to control the spread of COVID-19 pandemic and therefore protecting our crew, our esteemed customers, other park users as well, along with ensuring safe working environment.

Therefore, we strongly recommend you to prepare yourself and your family to adhere to the general and specific SOP’s as outlined below.

  • Your guide(s) is/are fully trained and aware of Covid-19 health & safety protocol.

   On Arrival beside your Safari briefing, you will be briefed on safety as well as health standards.

  • Your baggage will be disinfected as per MoHCDEC procedures.
  • Social distancing will be practiced at every aspect of the Safari. We recommend avoiding hand shakes,

   close contact and hugging.

  • Stringent hand hygiene measures to be carried out. Our all vehicles are equipped with hand sanitizer as well as

   disinfected fluids. However for your own safety and comfort we recommend you to carry your own sanitizer that

   is compatible with your skin type to avoid irritation and allergy reactions.

  • Our vehicles are designed for good cross ventilation, we recommend the use of natural and fresh air instead of

   re-circulating air from vehicle fan or air conditioning.

  • Your Safari Guide(s), will be using face masks whenever in close proximity with you or your family member

   while attending to your safari needs. However, the use of face mask is not recommended to be worn for more than 

   3hrs continuously. Moreover use of masks and surgical gloves are not recommended during driving.

   Our vehicles are equipped with extra face masks and surgical gloves incase needed, mostly when a client shows

   any signs of high fever, persistent cough or flu.

   We recommend you & your family to bring along your own face mask and shield for your own safety.

  • Infrared Thermometer will be available in our vehicles and as per MoHCDEC and MNRT recommendations.

  Temperature reading will be taken before the start of each safari day.

  • After every end of the Safari day, our vehicles will be thoroughly washed/cleansed inside out. There will be a grace of 72 hours before the vehicle is used for another Safari.
  • BT&SL liaison officer is Capt H.F.Zavery & is available 24X7 on +255 784 32 11 86, incase of any persistent

   symptoms or signs that leads to suspect of Covid -19.

  In case of any emergency, your guide(s) will drive you safely to the nearby health center as recommended by

  MoHCDE & MNRT.This will be after consulting with the liaison officer. 

  We strongly recommend you to give us your full support on the same.

  • There maybe new procedures and recommendations by MoHCDEC & MNRT that might arise and are not

   stipulated above, hence practice and procedures may change without prior notice.

TANZANIA –THE COUNTRY

BELOW IS A BRIEF OF POINTS TO NOTE FROM THE RECENT TRAVEL ADVISORY NO. 10 EXPLAINING THE LATEST TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS.

TRAVEL ADVISORY NO. 10 OF 16TH MARCH, 2022

  1. HEALTH SURVEILLANCE FORM

All Travellers including Tanzanians have to fill in an online traveller’s health surveillance form, within 24 hours before arrival in the country. The Forms are available on https://afyamsafiri.moh.go.tz

  1. PCR TEST REQUIREMENTS

Fully vaccinated travelers will be exempted from both RT PCR and Rapid Antigen Test requirements. Travelers will be required to present a valid vaccination certificate with QR code for verification upon arrival. 

  1. TRAVELLERS FROM COUNTRIES EXPERIENCING HIGHEST NUMBER OF COVID CASES

All travellers including Tanzanians arriving from such countries or those who have travelled through those countries in the last 14 days regardless of route taken shall be subjected to rapid tests at Points of Entry at their own cost. The cost of the test shall be $10 or Tsh 23,000 which is non refundable and testing fees applies .
